Bongo’s Ears
Bongo has had repeated ear infections, and had ear mites when we got her. We recently found out that she has a ruptured eardrum in her left ear, probably since she was a kitten, and the bulla of her left ear is “filthy.” The only way to clean an inner ear in a cat is to pierce the eardrum and flush it, resulting in deafness, or to remove the inner and middle ear completely (teca – don’t ask me what it stands for because I don’t remember).
On April 22 the veterinary surgeon will do either the osteotomy (cleaning), or the teca on both ears.
